Antitrust and Regulated Markets
Carey has one of Chile’s most recognized antitrust and regulated markets practice, being constantly highlighted as a leading firm in the field. The group offers innovative solutions to the full range of competition and regulated market issues, focusing on cartel and abuse of dominance investigations and litigation, and in merger control clearance.

Carey’s Antitrust and Regulated Markets team has participated in some of the most relevant litigation cases in Chile, including both contentious and non-contentious procedures before the Antitrust Court (TDLC) and the Supreme Court. In addition, it has a proven track record of having secured clearance of several complex domestic and multi-jurisdictional mergers, acquisitions and joint ventures before the National Economic Prosecutor’s Office (FNE) under the merger control regime.

Carey also has an extensive experience advising companies on both antitrust and regulatory internal audits, aiming to identify potential compliance issues and regulatory risks. Likewise, the firm constantly helps its clients in the design of tailored antitrust compliance programs and codes of practice.

Banking and Finance

Carey advises creditors, investors, and borrowers on all types of banking and financial transactions, as well as on regulatory matters.

Environmental Law and Litigation
Carey advises clients on all areas of environmental law, including administrative disputes, litigation, audits, analysis related to land use and environmental responsibility. Carey’s practice of environmental experts also advises clients on obtaining permits in all aspects related to the Environmental Impact Assessment System (SEIA).

The firm has extensive experience advising on due diligence processes, compliance with international standards, financing processes, ESG related matters, waste management (EPR Law), relationship and negotiation with communities including legislation that relates to indigenous people and, particularly, the application of Convention 169 of the International Labor Organization.

Insurance and Reinsurance
Carey has a long tradition of representing leading Chilean and global insurers, reinsurers, financial institutions, brokers and insured businesses, on regulatory, corporate, transactional/M&A and dispute resolution matters. Carey has assisted some of these clients on the insurance industry’s largest M&A deals in Chile and continues to provide advice to many of them on their ongoing regulatory, corporate, litigation, finance, transactional and tax matters, including serving as advisor and conducting their day-to-day relationship with the insurance regulator. Telecommunications Media and Technology
Carey specializes in all matters related to telecommunications, media and technology projects and services, including technology contracting, net neutrality, the Internet of Things (IoT), online content transmission (OTT), online platforms, cloud technologies, robotics, blockchains, smart contracts, algorithms and artificial intelligence.
