After Volvo Comes Winkelmann

After last year’s successful boost to the economy in the form of a massive investment by Volvo in eastern Slovakia, we had another opportunity to assist the Slovak Economy Ministry in securing another significant investment. This time, it was the German Winkelmann Group – a leader in metal forming technologies for a wide range of industry sectors. The company manufactures fuel distribution systems, hydraulic separators, water treatment technologies, engine and transmission components, drive shafts for aircraft engines, etc.

Winkelmann will build its plant for manufacturing vessels for heating applications in Rimavská Sobota, the region most plagued by unemployment. The investment is expected to be worth EUR 110 million and create at least 450 new job openings in the region. As a ripple effect, more jobs will be created by the subcontractors.

Our law firm’s team, led by Ján Azud, has lent its support to the Economy Ministry in drafting and negotiating the investment contract. “We are pleased to have been part of the team whose months-long efforts and intense work resulted in a very successful outcome and the contract signing for another major investment that will make a difference for the country. My special thanks go to all our team members for their outstanding work. I also want to thank the project team of the Economy Ministry, MH Invest, and the outside counsel,” Ján Azud said.
