Companies have the opportunity to invest resources in reforestation and forest conservation and obtain significant benefits in return. Among these benefits could be highlighted the following at a commercial level: the addition of value to their products and / or services, opening of new lines of business that can satisfy an increasingly growing and exigent demand. for products and / or services that are environmentally friendly, the fulfillment of goals according to the new demands in the corporate governance of the companies, the improvement of the image and reputation of the business, the potential access to new sources of financing, among others.
For this, it is important to highlight that in Nicaragua there are various tax benefits related to the activities of the forestry sector. Law No. 462, Law of Conservation, Promotion and Sustainable Development of the Forest Sector, came into force in 2003, with the purpose of establishing a regime for conservation, promotion, and sustainable development for the forest management of natural forests, plantations, and the protection, conservation and restoration of forest areas. This law contemplated certain tax benefits that were later accepted by Law No. 822, Tax Concertation Law.
In that sense, the forestry sector currently has the following tax benefits, which are in force until December 31, 2023:
