Christopher Horton

Christopher Horton is a partner in Smith Currie’s Fort Lauderdale office and is a Board Certified Construction Attorney by the Florida Bar. Chris concentrates his practice in the area of construction law. Chris represents construction, design, and engineering clients in state and federal courts, litigation, arbitration, and mediation throughout the State of Florida. He is also experienced in the preparation and negotiation of design and construction contracts. Chris advises clients regarding public and private procurement, alternative project delivery, construction licensing, and administrative matters.

Chris received his juris doctorate, magna cum laude, from the University of Miami School of Law.  He received several merit-based scholarships, and was elected by his peers to serve as the managing editor of the University of Miami Inter-American Law Review.  While in law school, he served as a judicial intern to the Honorable John J. O’Sullivan, United States Magistrate Judge, gaining valuable perspective and experience in the federal court. Chris attended Jacksonville University and graduated cum laude with a degree in History and Political Science. For three years he was the starting quarterback for the Jacksonville University football team.  Chris brings those same leadership skills and ability to work as a key team member to Smith Currie.
