On July 15, 2024, the law on certain measures to improve the security situation in the Slovak Republic, which is also referred to in the public space as “lex assassination “, will come into force , although its wording seems to have no potential to effectively prevent attacks on public officials, rather to solve their consequences or eliminate inconvenient activities of citizens.
The law introduces several novelties, among which is a ban on gatherings within a radius of 50 meters from a selected object (e.g. the residence of the President of the Slovak Republic or the National Assembly of the Slovak Republic) or near the residence of a person with a function to which the purpose of the gathering is directly related, and last but not least, the right to a lifetime annuity for the chairman of the National Council and the Prime Minister , who performed this function for at least two full, unabated election periods.
