The European Food Law Association (EFLA) has elected the new Board of Directors for the two-year period 24-26, appointing Avv. Paola Corte President. Paola Corte is a Partner of Studio Legale Corte, the oldest Italian food law firm.
Paola Corte succeeds Dutch lawyer Irene Verheijen who has led the Association for the last 4 years. The elections were held on 14 May 2024 in Brussels.

EFLA
The European Food Law Association is an international non-profit organization that brings together established experts in food law and food policy, including lawyers, academics and regulatory professionals, who contribute to the development of food law through their professional activities or publications.
Founded in Brussels in 1973, EFLA aims to contribute to the knowledge and understanding of food law, as well as to the development and international harmonisation of food law. EFLA has non-governmental observer status at the Codex Alimentarius and is recognized by several global and regional institutions, including the European Commission. EFLA develops position statements to address legal principles and legal issues. As part of its mission, EFLA organizes workshops, conferences and congresses to promote the association’s objectives and foster debate on various topics in the field of food law.
Paola Corte
Paola Corte is a lawyer and expert in food law and partner of the Corte Law Firm, which has been operating in food law in Italy and Europe since 1921. For over 20 years, Paola Corte has been providing defense, advice and training to major Italian and international producers, leading companies in large-scale distribution and collective catering, as well as their respective trade associations. Before being elected President of EFLA, she served as a member of the Association’s Council for three consecutive terms. She has been a lecturer at LUISS Business School and is recognized as a leading lawyer in the food sector by the main international directories.
